Yeah. Lordi had playback too. Actually I guess most competitors in the ESC uses playback. And btw. I met Alexander's dad. He has taught him and his siblings to play violin. I mean, they started playing violing when they were little kids... And I've heard him playing another song. He have been in other competitions in Norway. He is amazing on violin, you have no idea.... And I would like to see you do it better. That would have been some good fun.... ^^

They ALL have to have the music coming playback, no exceptions to that rule.

Think of it this way: Before Lordi, nobody expected Finland to ever stand a chance in Eurovision. In fact, I think the running joke was that it "Snows In Hell" before Finland would ever take the title. So even if their record is beaten, they're still groundbreaking for showing everyone exactly what Finland was capable of, and showing everyone Finland can produce some pretty ground-breaking music too.

If I remember it right: Kita sang there and Awa and that thunderstone guy. :) But yes some was playback but I think most of it was played direct. OR does someone here know exactly how it was?

I believe that they didn't sing on playback on the finals in 2006 but they did in 2007 when they were opening the show :D

So it could be that Amen don't even play guitar or Kita don't even play drums?

it can be, because the chorus of HRH sounds differently when you are hearing it live and from CD. (And I was to their concert so I heard HRH live.)

They will not be remembered
Yet your sound is alive

i gotta be honest, i didnt know Lordi had the record until norton said it on tv...

but fair play they had it. shame it was taken but kinda inevetable..i guess the scoring is different now. i wonder if it be broken if scoring never changed.

doesnt really matter anyways, doesnt affect how good their entry was :)

The very strict rules of Eurovision state for the artist(s) performing in the competition that:

ALL the vocals MUST be live and ALL the instruments MUST be playback. You can´t even use synthesizer "choir"-sounds, since they are synthesized human voices.

But of course we did play all of our own instruments on the playback tape. Of course.

In 2007 Helsinki Eurovision, where we did not compete, it was all playback, including vocals. That was because everything needed to be 100% synchronized with the video, and even the smallest mistake from me timing-wise, or anyone else singing the backing vocals, would have been an embarrassing and an enormous disaster.
