IT SNOWS IN HELL! We all get depressed...

Postby Candy_Bra_Canadian » Wed Aug 10, 2011 5:43 pm

... Over the path of interpersonal relationships when they end. Regardless of whether that relationship had been romantic or platonic, it sucks to have someone who was once important in your life to go, regardless of whether it's the right thing to do. Most of us listen to music after the end of a valued interpersonal relationship. As MonsterManiacs, most of us will listen to Lordi as audio therapy.

So to get to my "thread question," which Lordi songs do you listen to after:

a) breaking up with a romantic partner?

b) falling out with a friend, but not amicably?

For me, my breakups are rarely civil, and when they do end civilly, the friendship following usually ends uncivilly. It's not always their fault or mine; personality clashes happen *all* the time. That doesn't however, stop me from listening to these Lordi songs:

a) Breaking up with a romantic partner:
- Hate At First Sight
- Evilove
- Children of the Night (...I'm entitled to my cruel fantasies as long as I don't act on them)
- Blood Red Sandman (Ditto :P)
- It Snows in Hell
- My Heaven is Your Hell
- Shotgun Divorce
- Icon of Dominance
- Last Kiss Goodbye

b) Falling out with a friend, but not amicably:
- SuperMonsters
- Fire in the Hole
- Non-Stop Night
- Chainsaw Buffet
- Good to be Bad
- Monster Monster

Personally, I like to compliment listening to Lordi with other artists, often with The 69 Eyes, Bon Jovi, Carmen Gray, Charon, Cinderella, Eurythmics, Vixen, Within Temptation, Scorpions, Disturbed, and the almighty Judas Priest.

Feel free to write explanations for "why" you picked some of the songs that you did if you want to clarify. There's no "formal" structure to this thread anyway.

Yes, this thread has an ulterior motive. It's not just for fun; I recently broke up with my boyfriend of many months, but unlike previous breakups when I was younger, I'm not beside myself in grief... Nor anger... I don't even hate him, so I'm completely open-minded to any list of songs created by other MonsterManiacs who probably have similar tastes in music as I do anyway. :)

What an coincidence! My boyfriend broke up with me only a few days ago.

Since then I've been listening to monsters keep me company, it really makes me feel strong, I feel I always have my monsters, and they will never let me down like my ex did. Lordi really do work as therapy for me. There is no other band for me that is supporting me as much as Lordi.

Good idea... I hadn't thought of that one... I'm not actually very upset, but that's a good song that I haven't listened to in a while. o_O

:D Great topic !!
As to breakups the best one for me seemt to be the Icon of Dominance or of course Monsters keep me company - it works for every tough moment ( just as Supermonsters )
But someof the others you listed for a breakup seem better for an actual good rerlationship like My Heaven is Your Hell, Evilove, Hate At First Sight etc. I ronsider them to be somewhat romantic and I don't feel like romantic songs after I break up with someone.
As to freandsfips ending everything more upbeat works :D

No one haven't mention one song.
As I'm with positive thinking and happy all the time, then "Would you Love a Monsterman" when you are happy and on the edge of glory (hehe, sorry for sidetrack from Lordi).

a) breaking up with a romantic partner?

Man Skin Boots, Supermonstars.

b) falling out with a friend, but not amicably?

That's a little harder to think about to be honest...
Dr. Sin is in, baby. Say hello to Miss Crowbar.
Kalmageddon, baby.

Breakup songs?
I have tons, but Lordi has one that sticks out

PET THE DESTROYER

Losing friends? I don't typically waste time worrying over them so don't alter my playlist accordingly.

Besides, when you have Lordi, King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Death, 80's Metallica, Carcass, Arch Enemy, The Agonist, Angel Witch, Diamond Head, Jag Panzer, Helloween, Motorhead, Girlschool, Cycle Sluts From Hell, All That Remains, Judas Priest, Slayer, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Kreator, Job For a Cowboy, Alice Cooper, Iced Earth and Blind Guardian in constant rotation in your playlist you can cover almost any situation!
Lots of Dean guitars, all of them pointy
