In 2006 his band of monsters won the Eurovision Song Contest. Today, six years after the victory, he has hit the hard rock bottom of reality and is deserted by fans and band members. T--- is now in serious danger of losing his Monster Neverland. Can he rise once again and continue ruling his fantasy world, just like he has done since childhood? Or will he finally grow up?"

This could either turn out to be very interesting or very embarassing.

I think the Monster Neverland was a bit too far fetched....we're talking Lordi here, not Michael Jackson.

''As the band starts to record their new and perhaps last album in Nashville, Tomi strives to regain his creativity and songwriting skill. But will the band stick together and keep on rocking, or is Tomi's monster Neverland about to take its last breath? Lordi – the Monsterman is ultimately a film about the Heavy Metal brotherhood, about being an artist and about being true to yourself. When comes the point when we stop indulging in our dreams, take off our masks and start taking care of others? Or would it be better for all of us if we can let Lordi rock on forever?''
Way back in the early 1980s I played super hero games with Tomi Putaansuu in a small forest between our suburban homes in Finnish Lapland. I want to return to that magic forest and discover why I grew up to be an adult, but Tomi never did. For me Lordi is not just a latex clown performing simple hard rock tunes from 1980s. I have found a creative genius and hidden world of beauty, tragedy and comedy behind the mask of this beast.
At the moment Tomi looks a bit like a wounded King Kong collecting all his creative strength for one more fight. Somehow he always manages to come back like a zombie, each time just a bit stronger, wiser and funnier monster. I have come to realize that Tomi draws his creativity and determination as a multitalented artist from the naiveté of an enfant terrible. During the making of this film I personally want to “grow down” a little and get lost in the raw power of heavy metal.
Tomi’s life is a classic from riches to rags story with a Faustian twist. Tomi is like a vampire who got blinded by the mainstream showbiz lights and lost his ability to bite: to create good music for true Lordi fans. With the help of his best friend Kangas-Pete, Tomi is now going back to his creative roots determined to make the best Lordi album ever in Nashville.
Lordi – The Monsterboy is ultimately a film about courage to be and create yourself, even if you happen to be a heavy metal monster from 1980s. I want Tomi’s story to inspire us adults to revisit our child’s imagination and use it as a creative force to realize our own dreams, no matter how high the obstacles may be. My challenge is to make the audience see the beauty in the beast - and in the man behind its mask, without actually seeing his face.
