My second song in Lordi-Style "SLAUGHTER HOTEL"

Postby Obsession » Tue Jan 17, 2006 3:52 pm

Hi everybody !

You may remember me - I posted one of my one songs called "Hangman in Love" here on the Monsterboard. BTW, the dl-link in my last post won't work anymore, but here's new stuff for all you Lordi-Fans.

Remember, it's all just for fun and without professional equipment. Just my guitar, a cheap microphone (about 5 Euro) and my keyboard. No studio work, everything actually done in my living room. That's why the sound and the arrangement isn't the best (just a rough demo, the solo's just there to be there - will record a better one later)...

By the way, all instruments and vocals were performed by me although I'm not a professional singer or something like that. Quite hard to sing the same stuff again and again and try to sound different a bit to simulate some kind of "choir".

So - here you are - it's a mix between Alice Cooper's POISON, HOTEL CALIFORNIA and of course, LORDI :)

SLAUGHTER HOTEL
(music & lyrics by Mirko Hirsch)

their car broke down
in the middle of nowhere
they got stuck in Texas
on a full moon night

heard a scream
comin' out of the shadows
didn't see a thing
but were sure it ain't right

BRIDGE
had no choice and tried to hide
in a house beside the road
but a maniac
was on their back
with bloodstains on his coat

CHORUS
Hello and welcome
to the slaughter hotel
think you will like it
getting closer to hell

Hello and welcome
to the slaughter hotel
your private nightmare
everybody sleep well

in every room
there were scissors and sickles
there was no one there
just the full moon light

they went on
and found parts of a body
but the skin was gone
in the dead of the night

Here you can find the download (2.34 MB) (MP3 96/32, 3:25 Min.):

Have fun - would love to hear your comments !

My biggest dream would be, if LORDI would use one of my songs for an album (or a single B-Side etc.) or play it live.

Best regards from Germany to all other LORDI-fans,
Mirko (obsession)

Wow! Sounds freakin' great! Actually your voice is very similar with 80's Gene Simmons and I really give extra points for that! And synth-sound is the greatest, 'cos it's so 80's.

I was just thinking, are these lyrics in any connection with movies Psycho and Texas Chainsaw Massacre? ;)

Thanks, mate! KISS belongs to my all-time favourite bands and so the vocals can be seen as a tribute to Gene Simmons and Lordi.

I tried to do it as much 80's as I could, because I love the sound of 80's and early 90's hard rock so much. For example, the sound of Alice Cooper's album "Hey Stoopid" and U.D.O.'s album "Faceless World" still today sound so big and crunchy. I Love 'em!

And you were absolutely right concerning the lyrics and their movie connection. With the "sickles" I tried to add something new and not just copy the movies. Hope you like the lyrics.

Holy balls, man!
Thats was good, and i mean very good! 8)
With first song, i think it's like joke or something, but now I hear, that there is something SERIOUS!

... well, now I think that you should start to search for musicians for your band! :P

I use cheap home recording equipment too, and to be honest you've gotten a pretty good sound from it, although it crackles a lot.

The song is bloody good too, definitely can see a lot of the influences in there that you talked about. Stick with it and get a band going, you'll be good.

Wow, I like it, great work.
By the way, wath's up with "Hangman in Love"? Just asking because that's one of my favourites. 8) Will there be a finished version?

Amasing yet again Obsession :D . It is amasing quality, if you are interested the Line 6 Toneport sounds perfect for you. it allows direct instrument and mic inputs to record. It also acts as a pre-amp so you can select masses of settings for both guitar and voice. Also it comes with some very good recording software.

check it out at http://line6.com/toneport/ It is Hell worth the money. I have just bought the UX2 to record my DIAL cover.

Great music yet again Obsession, I realy believe you would get far if you started up a band.

That was absolutely incredible. I'm not kidding when I say that that was one of the best songs I've heard in a long while! I am sure you have a great future in music business should you continue making songs as good as that.

What impresses me even more is that you've done all that by yourself. I'm not really a music maker myself but I can imagine how hard that must've been.

The only thing I'm sad about is that I can't be part of your upcoming band because I can't play any instruments. The only thing I can do is write but you obviously can come up with great lyrics yourself :) I will definately be interested in hearing anything more by you!

I would be more than happy to steal a few lyrics from you Kelhanion. I have not realy tried hard writing lyrics so I do not know if I am any good or not :P .

Great song again Obsession, as I said before you simply must check out the Line 6 Toneport.

This, my friend, or... not friend, is brilliant. I heard it one time, and I'm sure I'm have this chorus in my head for a long time.

It sound brilliant for a thing made by just one person. The backing vocals you hear on some places, wowzors. Really. Genious. In fact, I'm going to listen it again.

Still brilliant.

Hi !

Yes, but the songs mentioned above are no songs in Lordi-style - just normal melodic rock in the vein of Survivor, 80's Bon Jovi etc. I sing with my "normal" voice.

But, of course, there will be some more songs in LORDI style in the future. At the moment, I'm very busy, but in the summer (July) I will deliver some new tracks and you can buy a CD(-R) with my songs then.
Maybe I will put out an own website then, too. There you will find information, lyrics, new songs etc.

Bye and thanks,

Mate, that was fairly damn insane! I mean seriously, that's the kind of song I could stick on a playlist and deafen everybody moshing to it. No way of downloading it so I can stick it on a CD? :P. That was really and truly very, very good. Write more! Now! :P
