I like GWAR. Always have. Think that they did some ace songs (Sick of You, Meat Sandwich etc) however the last 2 albums I bought (Violence and War Party) have been decidedly poor. Got to see them live for the first time this year, and while it was good for a novelty, they were not a patch on Lordi, who blow my socks off every time I see them live.

As for comparisons, GWAR are not a joke band. They might play jokey music that is usually confrontational, but it doesn't mean they don't take it any less as serious as any other band. I prefer Lordi as their music meets my tastes more. Obviously dumb people will always compare them because they wear costumes, but people who listen to them both know they are different. As for GWAR fans putting Lordi down......so what! They are entitled to their opinion, even if they are wrong. :wink:

It is their own loss if they don't give Lordi a chance.

As someone else mentioned, every band in this world has roots in other bands. GWAR may have come before Lordi, however, as my girlfriend says, they are just a poor mans Dead Kennedy's anyway. Doesn't make them any less relevant.

All I can say is, don't let people dissing Lordi (or any band) put you off from liking them, and try not to let it get to you. As long as you know what you like, all is good in the world.

It's wrong though.

Anyway: I like both GWAR and Lordi. I have respect for both bands. I, myself, believe GWAR had a much better live show. However, Lordi's songs are much more impressive. So it's basiclly a tie. I'd love em' both and neither's better than the other.

But remember this:

In a fight you have Aliens who can summon Satan, The Pope, a Dinosaur, Robots, Man-Eating Penguins, and have GIGANTIC Weapons, Guns, and Laser Beams. Not to mention a baby-eating Penis.

vs.

Some monsters who brandish a saw, an axe, guitars, basses, drums, and keyboards.

GWAR has a slight advantage in a fight XD

Either way: They're both Heavy. They both are cool. they both wear costumes.

So as long as they stay heavy, I'm happy

like hell I even haven't heard of these GWAR or somethin.but i heard someone above mensioned that they are playing trash metal. :lol:

Like come on, can you even call that music. And you compare it to the melodical Lordi hard rock sound.like i ll check some GWAR songs just to see what they are actually like but i dont expect anything more than just the next

From the first time I saw Lordi, I went searching for some information about them. (like I always do when a band sounds good to me) The first ting that I read was : Most GWAR fans are saying that Lordi is a weak copy of GWAR.
I was wondering who GWAR was so I looked for some pictures and those pics made me say; Oh My F**king God!! :shock:

Come on! Their costumes are as fake as plasticfruits and they're half naked(That was the omfg part) UGH! :shock:

(But I won't say I hate the music, sometimes I'm listening to School's Out and that's the only song I got from GWAR)

Well i have to say ...i kinda like Gwar ....i went to two gigs of them when they played here in holland last year ...the show was good ...but when i put Lordi and Gwar next to eachother i have to say Lordi really is bettter ... Their costumes are so much more real ...and i think all the Gwar fans out there ..has to listen or just go to one of the gigs before the put Lordi down ..thats just not fair ..i think ..to me their completley different ..BUT LORDI WILL KICK THEIR ASS ...i.m pretty sure of that :wink:

I'm rather new here, so hopefully I'm not rehashing anything someone else has already states, but Gwar and Lordi really are two completely different bands.

Lordi is by far the greater band, while Gwar does have a good tune or two, they are overall a stage band, their stage show is the only reason I would attend one of their shows, while Lordi has good music, and a great stage show!

Gwar, you need to hang your heads for your cover of "Eighteen" by Alice Cooper. That was terrible! I wonder if Lordi would cover an Alice song? "I Love the Dead"? Do I hear it?
